About the Club
The OG Club acts as a link between all former Gresham’s students and has been formally in existence since 1906. Our primary aim is to help leavers keep in contact and to foster friendships between old friends who may have lost touch. With nearly four thousand members worldwide, we aim to use the resources available to us for the benefit of the wider Gresham’s community, endeavouring to help equip recent leavers with the tools for success while concurrently reaching out to more distant graduates who may have lost contact with Gresham’s.
The Club is governed by a small but enthusiastic core of volunteers who work hard to keep leavers in touch with Gresham’s, reaching out through a range of publications, organised sporting events, reunions and a myriad of other social gatherings. Our OG Coordinator, Mr John Smart, is a former Head of Arts at Gresham's, and taught countless numbers of pupils before his retirement in 2006.
We truly enjoy hearing from all former students, and actively encourage all past pupils from any of the three schools to get in contact. While club members will receive copies of our annual OG Magazine and other updates from both the School and the Club, we welcome all former students to get in touch with us and acquaint us with your various and often formidable successes. Please contact John Smart at johndsmart@aol.com; he would be happy to hear from you.
Gresham's Today
Gresham's continues to flourish with over eight hundred pupils across our three schools between the ages of three and eighteen. Our distinct campuses have developed and expanded over the years, with recent additions including our fully-equipped Auden Theatre, the purpose-built Cairns and Butterwick Art and DT Centres and our Nicholson Gallery which regularly hosts professional art exhibitions. Our seven boarding houses still provide homes-from-home to over two hundred boarders at the Senior School, and are regularly modernised and refurbished with Tallis currently undergoing a major refit. One of the most striking changes is that Old School House, once home to hundreds of OG schoolboys, now houses our Pre-Preparatory Department.
Academics continue to be strong at Gresham's, with 97% of Fifth Formers GCSE subjects being graded A*-C in 2007, and over 25% of our Upper Sixth receiving three or more As at A level. In September 2007 we launched our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, offering Sixth Formers the opportunity to follow this progressive new alternative to A levels as part of a global network of IB Word Schools.
