OGs Excel in Varsity Hockey Matches

11 Mar 2009

Last Tuesday, OG Charlotte Brearley (Edinburgh, 2007) represented Cambridge University in the 109th Women's Blues Varsity Hockey Match against Oxford University. Our former Hockey captain (pictured far left on the front row) was selected to take part in the match due to her commitment and success within hockey. It was a great match but unfortunately the final score was 2-1 to Oxford.

Selection for this match is a great achievement, involving many hours of training and the attainment of high levels of performance. Hockey is one of the few 'full' Blue sports at the University and Charlotte has earned the highest honour earned by sportsmen and sportswomen at Cambridge.

Our former hockey players have been doing extremely well recently. As well as Charlotte's success, we were also pleased to hear that last year's hockey captain Rachel Quick (Oakeley 2008) played in the 2nd XI Varsity match two weeks ago. Rachel was playing for the Cambridge team and she was marked by another OG Tessa Furnivall (Britten, 2007) who is currently studying at Oxford University.

Well done to all three of our former pupils! We are delighted to hear of their success on the hockey pitch.
